Meet the MRRA
The Minnesota Resource Recovery Association (MRRA) is a private-public membership organization that supports the utilization of today’s waste as a local, renewable, and sustainable source for tomorrow’s energy. Our membership represents 1/3 of Minnesota counties in their solid waste management and recycling needs. Our members play important roles in the protection of the state’s land, air, water, and other natural resources and public health through responsible, affordable, orderly, and uniformly enforced systems of solid waste processing and disposal.
Our Mission
To safely operate resource recovery facilities using state-of-the-art technology-based solutions that are part of integrated solid waste programs that protect the environment, people, and economy.
Our Vision:
To promote a zero-waste society that advocates for reducing waste, sustainably reusing resources and less landfill use.
Our Purpose
To manage our waste today to preserve our natural environment tomorrow.

Learn MoreIn Other Words...
“Resource recovery and waste-to-energy are globally recognized but under-represented solutions to environmental problems in the United States and the state of Minnesota. MRRA is the only state organization that brings our industry together to learn from each other and advocate as a single voice to the public and our legislators. The only way to visualize long-term stability and growth in our industry in Minnesota is through MRRA.”
-- Chris McConn, P.E., Executive Director, Prairie Lakes Municipal Solid Waste Authority
